I've got a little mirror in there I use and I wait until the hot water has softened up my skin. Since doing that, no nicks, no cuts, no rough feeling, even on really old blades. But you're right that the price is pretty crazy. I do think it's the same price here but in Canadian dollars, so maybe you should come visit some time and save 30% on your blades.
