Hurts so good

Apparently, I was a better boy yesterday than I thought. 171 this morning, with a 174.5 weigh in Friday morning. It’s amazing what hydration and a good night’s sleep will do for you. Plus, my favorite days in the plan are upon me, and the back stretch looms. I should be easily maintaining here in the next week, or dip back into the 160s. Unless I go walking and dancing, of course.

anther fun bit about last night was that although I had access to more wine, I just had the one, and it did for me all night. In hindsight, when that glass wore off, my play began to suffer. I’ll make a note of that for next time. But a large part of it was my ability to maintain calm. There were a couple of really bad beats, where I completely misread the cards. One in particular sticks out, because I was playing it strong, and pushed the betting all the way to the end, only to discover that my hole cards were not what I thought they were. On another occasion, I realized that I was playing the hand before. From both beats, I was able to rebound with aggressive and disciplined play. But it was a bit upsetting.

My numbers are up for the year, to be sure. Lifetime, I’m still trailing a tad, since I don’t do well at the “big” game. But as far as Hold-em goes, I’m a winner.

Yay me.

This here coffee tastes great, for those that are interested.

simply put

an amazing 24 hours.

m,ind you, I feel like crap, what with the shivers, and the headache, and the churny gut.

But the ride, ohhh, the ride.

these things spell a recipe for Poker success, and while I did not come away as the ultimate winner, I placed “in the money” as it were, and more than doubled my stake. Plus, I parlayed the winnings a, and doubled them again.

Not a bad night, for a sickie.
