Words, Words, Words
So, I’m a writer. And odds are high that you’ve never head of anything I’ve ever done.
This page will edumacate you on who I am, or rather was. When I find time to write it, of course. Currently, I’m shopping 3 science fiction novels and a number of short stories; writing (or attempting to, anyway) two others, and occasionally “consulting” on web projects I can’t really talk about.
Over the years, my fiction has been primarily used in Hobby Gaming Products. In fact, I stopped writing my own stuff for a good decade while I helped other aspiring writers become published ones. Story development and rules editing is much more demanding than it would first seem, and a developer’s name rarely gets into the final credits.
I also spent a good number of years doing copy editing and web updates for a gaming company which no longer exists. Or rather, now exists in a completely different form, in another state, and without access to pretty much everything I did for them. This makes it somewhat difficult to “sell” myself as a writer/developer/editor, but it is possible.
By my count, in the last 15 years I’ve worked on over a thousand individual pieces of “new and shiny,” including magazines (both in-print, fanzine, and online publications), for-sale products, product advertisements, marketing programs, scripts for radio spots, rules editing and design, and story and character text for video games.
Currently, my work (or the echoes of it, in some cases) can be seen in the AION Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying game (MMORPG). I’ve also edited and produced articles for the Internet Review of Science Fiction (iRoSF), and less recently, for the now defunct Gamingreport.com.
In the field of traditional (and unfortunately in some cases, out of print) games, I have worked on “Pen-and Pencil” RPGS (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (2nd Edition), Dungeons and Dragons (3E, 3.%), Alternity): Collectible Card Games (CCGs) (L5R, Dune, Doomtown, Rage, Legend of the Burning Sands, MLB Showdown, High Stakes Drifter, Battlestar Galactica); Tabletop Miniatures games (D&D miniatures, MageKnight, MechWarrior, HeroClix, HorrorClix, MLB SportsClix); and the emerging category of Constructible Miniatures games (Race Day, Pirates, Star Wars Pocketmodel TCG).
All of the above were truly challenging products and projects, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on each. As more news about my current fiction projects becomes available, I’ll be sure to update this space.
